I had another lesson today in thinking globally. In March, many of us adjusted our clocks for something called Daylight Savings Time. Not everyone does this and specifically, the DR Congo does not do this. As a result, we missed having Lau and Kenzo on the call. I was able to talk to Kenzo and received the following report:

 FACTEB

  • Grieving on campus for Pastor Justinho Mayunda who passed away Feb 23 is starting to lift. Please continue to pray for his family and many friends.
  • FACTEB hosted 87 students from Maduda for a week and the energy and excitement lifted the whole school as they hosted these kids.
  • One of the visiting professors has taken other employment which may impact his ability to teach at FACTEB. Please pray that this will get resolved as these classes are critical for the Graduate program.
  • Construction projects are all going very well with the level one of the Library progressing well, the Married Student's Duplexes almost complete, and Sarah's School progressing with a safer environment for the children.

Church

  • As Kenzo mentioned in his update, the Alliance Church in Congo is facing its more serious crisis since the early sixties. Continue to pray for this situation and the ongoing meetings with church leadership, lay leaders, and the government of Congo. A key meeting is scheduled for May 11.
  • The Alliance Church in Congo is hosting the Alliance World Fellowship meeting in Kinshasa May 25-28, 2010.

Personal

  • Last month, Kenzo reported that Lau's fridge broke down - it has now been fixed.
  • Kenzo's laptop also broke - and has been repaired. Kenzo lost a significant amount of work in this crash - pray for memory as he re-creates the work.
  • Lau and Kenzo's vehicle is still broken and needs a new transmission. The vehicle is a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4X4 with an automatic transmission with quotes to replace the transmissionof $2,500-3,500 USD.
  • On Lau and Kenzo's new home, plastering is being done and windows should arrive in 10-days time.
  • Both Tutu and Afo are doing very well in school with academic standings of second and first in their classes respectively.
  • Lau will be traveling to Tschela next week to lead a Ladies Retreat.
