Program Start

 To call the DR Congo (DRC) a challenging place is an extreme understatement.

• Millions have been killed in armed conflicts
• The UN peacekeeping mission to the DRC is the largest force globally
• A senior UN official this year called the DRC the ‘rape capital of the world’.
• The World Health Organization estimates that 1 in 5 DRC children will not live past their fifth birthday.

Not only does all of this trauma create untold impact on individuals and families in a physical sense, the emotional impact is staggering.
When Jan Regehr visited the DRC in 2007, she had a vision to partner with Congolese Christians and provide counselling skills training so that equipped Congolese counsellors could facilitate the healing of individuals, families, and communities.
