STRONGER COMMUNITIES

Communities play an important role in all of our lives. We find community in friends, family, employment, neighbourhoods, churches, and many other places. Having a sense of community helps us feel connected, united and can tangibly provide us with a greater purpose to work towards. It can make us feel as though we are a part of something greater than ourselves. It can also give us opportunities through networking, provide connections to other people, make us feel safe, and help us to reach for our goals. A strong community affects our well being and our contentment in day to day life.

We believe it is important for communities to be able to support themselves through each individuals’ skills, assets, knowledge and capacity. However, sometimes community can become eroded through challenges such as poverty, disease, lack of education, etc. This erosion can lead to gaps in a community’s ability to support itself.

The Stronger Communities program focuses on helping communities fill gaps through capacity building. Capacity building is the process by which individuals and organizations obtain, improve, and retain the skills, knowledge, tools, equipment and other resources needed to have a larger impact.

Through Faith Foundation and Trust for Africa in Lesotho, where we protect and educate children, preserve and strengthen families, and mobilize communities to do the same.  Through Southern Emergency Services in Belize, providing quality home support assistance for elderly and disabled people in remote villages.
